About Us

Ottawa County Christian Academy (OCCA) was founded in 2004 as a ministry of Grace Baptist Church in Oak Harbor, Ohio. The purpose of starting OCCA was to give area parents a Christian alternative to public education.

Our academy is a non-chartered, non-tax supported (NCNT), private school and is recognized by the Ohio Department of Education as such in accordance with Ohio Administrative Code 3301-35-08. This status simply means that we meet the state minimum standards in areas of safety, attendance and academic requirements. In all cases, OCCA exceeds these standards to ensure the best possible education for our students.

Administration & Staff

All of our faculty and staff are not only committed to educating from a Christian world-view, but they are also dedicated servants of ministry. Every teacher is a graduate of a recognized college or university, and they are responsible for obtaining continuing education credits. This guarantees that our staff is properly trained and equipped to teach in an ever-changing classroom.
We strive for excellence in the classroom and that stems directly from the expectations we place on our teaching staff. They are dedicated to the individualized approach we take with our students' academics and spiritual development. We are grateful for the teachers God has provided at OCCA.

Tuition & Fees

Much of OCCA's operating cost is absorbed through the generosity of givers to Grace Baptist Church, our parent ministry. This helps to keep the cost of attending OCCA affordable. In fact, when compared to the cost other private schools in our area, we are one of the lowest!

    Cost of education that covers staff salaries and miscellaneous expenses associated with building maintenance and upkeep. The top rate is for members of Grace Baptist Church; Middle rate is for non-members. Bottom Rate is for Kindergarten. All rates are per student. *(New rates effective for the 2018-2019 school year)

    One-time, non-refundable fee to cover the registration and enrollment process. Also serves as a security deposit on enrollment reservation. Cost is per family.

    Cost of book/curriculum orders (includes updates to teacher materials). Also covers cost of internet, computer lab expenses, and helps offset any technology implemented into classroom learning. Cost is per student.

  4. $15 (K-6) $50 (7-12)
    Cost of school’s membership dues to the Buckeye Christian School Organization (BCSO) and the American Association of Christian Schools (AACS). These dues allow OCCA to take advantage of Fine Arts Competitions, sports programs and other state-wide competitions. It also serves as a legislative support at the state and national levels. Grades 7-12 will pay a higher fee to cover lodging expenses when competitions require it. Cost is per student.

    Cost associated with ordering annual achievement testing materials. It also covers the scoring of said materials. This fee has been discounted as a result of our membership with the AACS/BCSO. Cost is per student.

    Cost associated with our online grading system. Our assessment system grants parents access to real-time grading results, attendance records, disciplinary alerts, assignments and report cards. Cost is per student.

***We do offer a 5% tuition discount for all accounts paid-in-full by June 30 of each year. We also offer a monthly installment plan through Croghan Colonial Bank. Please inquire about these opportunities during the enrollment process. 
We make it affordable!
We offer discounts for enrolling multiple children. In fact, for families with more than three students, tuition is just $100 for each additional student! Please contact us to see the full discount schedule.
